UCSD Diploma Cover Guide: Size, Fit and Ordering Tips

Use this page only when the diploma itself says University of California San Diego or UC San Diego. A measurement from UC Davis, UCLA, or UC Berkeley does not tell you which cover fits a San Diego document.

Read the issuer line before you shop

UC San Diego is one campus, in La Jolla. The wider University of California system does not print one shared diploma for every school. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional documents from the same campus can also differ by college and by the year they were issued.

Before you compare covers, write down three things from the page you will actually insert: the full school name, the degree or certificate title, and the year. If any of those differ from the sample you measured, measure again.

Group orders at UC San Diego

A department or family order often mixes colleges. Do not approve one size for the whole group because the first diploma happened to match a stock cover. Ask for one finished diploma from each degree level in the order. If those pages do not match, split the order.

Replacement diplomas and copies are a separate check. A reprint can come back on a different sheet than the original the graduate walked with.

Where the measuring steps live

If the measurement is not one of the stock sizes, order a made-to-fit cover. The made-to-fit explanation covers when that product is the right one. Stock wording such as "Diploma" is on the classic diploma cover.

What not to print on the cover

Honor U is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by the University of California San Diego. Do not send a university seal, wordmark, or other protected artwork unless you have permission to use it. The cover holds the diploma. It is not a credential, and it does not make the document official.

Imprint text can be the degree title, a name, or a class year. Put the full campus name in the order notes if you mention the school at all, so it is not shortened to "UC."

Colleges at UC San Diego are not one document

UC San Diego undergraduates are assigned to a college: Revelle, Muir, Thurgood Marshall, Warren, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sixth, Seventh, or Eighth. The diploma may name that college. That name is worth writing down, because a family order often mixes colleges from the same commencement. It is not proof that the paper size matches.

Graduate and professional programs sit outside those undergraduate colleges. A master's diploma, a doctoral diploma, and an undergraduate diploma from the same June should be treated as three checks until someone measures them. The registrar, not a frame shop near campus, is the right source if a replacement is being ordered and the original is no longer in hand.

What to put in a UC San Diego order

Use the full name University of California San Diego in the order notes. "UC" is not enough, and a photo of a UCLA or Berkeley cover is not a specification. Include the degree title, the year, and the measured width and height of the page that will go inside. If you do not have the page yet, wait. A guessed size is how a cover gets returned.

Foil can be a name, the degree, or the class year. Leave the seal off unless you have permission to use it. If the numbers are not a stock size, use a made-to-fit cover rather than forcing the page into a smaller one. The measuring steps stay on the size guide.

Questions that come up for this campus

Can I use my friend's UC San Diego cover size?

Only if that friend received the same kind of document, from the same college or program, in the same year, and you have measured both. A different college in the same ceremony is not the same order.

The diploma is still at the registrar. Can you look up the UC San Diego size?

No. Honor U does not keep an official UC San Diego size chart. Order when you can measure the issued page, or ask the registrar for the finished sheet size and orientation.

Is a La Jolla frame measurement the cover size?

No. Frame openings and mat openings are smaller than the diploma. Measure the paper itself. The FAQ covers that distinction in one place so it is not repeated on every campus page.
