Michigan State University Diploma Cover Guide: Size and Fit

Michigan State University and the University of Michigan are different schools. A cover, a frame size, or a store listing for one of them is not a measurement for the other.

Confirm East Lansing

The diploma should name Michigan State University. The campus graduates think of is East Lansing. If the document says the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Flint, or another Michigan university, do not use this guide and do not reuse an MSU measurement.

Similar names cause the mix-up: Michigan State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and the University of Michigan. Search results group them. The paper does not.

Colleges inside Michigan State

A Spartan diploma still has to be measured as the individual document. Colleges, graduate programs, and issue years at Michigan State are not guaranteed to share a sheet size. Write down the college and the year next to the width and height.

For a department or alumni group, measure one final diploma from that same issue before you buy a quantity. If the stack includes more than one college or more than one decade, sort it into size groups first.

Inside Michigan State, do not assume one sheet. James Madison College, Lyman Briggs, the Broad College of Business, and the larger degree colleges can differ from each other. The College of Human Medicine also teaches in Grand Rapids. A diploma tied to that program should be measured from that diploma, not from an East Lansing undergraduate page someone else already ordered.

What to send with the order

Write Michigan State University, the college or program printed on the page, the year, and the width and height. If the stack mixes colleges or decades, say so and keep the groups apart. A department that is "pretty sure they are all the same" should still measure one finished diploma from the issue being covered.
